Ronald L. Harmeyer, 68, Leo, Indiana passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne with his loving family by his side.
Born September 18, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Indiana he was the son of the late Harvey and Bernice Rodermund Harmeyer. On December 21, 1968 in Mansfield, Ohio he was married to the former Kathleen M. Ball, and she survives.
Ron was Chief Photographer at WANE TV in Fort Wayne where he worked for forty-eight years. After his death WANE TV reported, "He dedicated his life and career to TV news in Fort Wayne. He hustled every day in the field and was a valuable source for contacts and sources around northeast Indiana." He considered his job to be his hobby and said, "I guess I never had a real job, but I've had a great career."
He attended grade school at St. Jude Catholic School and graduated from Central Catholic High School, Ft. Wayne.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Harmeyer, Leo; two children, Joel Matthew Harmeyer and wife Andrea, Ft. Wayne; and Jenna Shepard and husband Adam, Kansas City, Missouri.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Dr., Ft. Wayne with Fr. Tom Shoemaker officiating. Burial will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Ft. Wayne.
Visitation will be from 2-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road.
