Genevieve Burke, 86, of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Tuesday at Geisinger Medical Center, Plains Township. She was born October 27, 1921 in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Justin and Mary Telesiute Knesis. A 1940 graduate of Coughlin High School she was employed for many years at Andy Perugino's Restaurant in Luzerne. Mrs. Burke was a member of St. Dominic's Church, Wilkes-Barre, and enjoyed making crafts to share with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Burke; sisters, Helen Woelpper, Margaret Giza; brothers, John, Joseph, Justin, Anthony Knesis. Surviving are her children, Patrick Burke and his wife, Molly, Dallas, Nancy Burke, Wilkes-Barre, Bob Burke and his wife, Bertha, Plains, Margaret Saba and her husband, Bill, Hanover Township; grandchildren, Kerry and Arie Moeller, Kevin Burke, Becky and Chris Beck, Robbie and Jackie Burke, Michael and Amanda Burke, Chrissy and Joey Saba; great grandchildren, Sean and Liam Burke. She was excited and anticipating the birth of her third great grandchild, Baby Beck in September. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Dominic's Church. Interment will be in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Larksville.
