Robert Allen Baker , 69, of Harrisonburg, passed away Oct. 15, 2011, at his home.

Mr. Baker was born Sept. 16, 1942, in Harrisonburg, and was the son of Charlotte Harrison Baker of Harrisonburg and the late Allen C. Baker .

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Board, the Board of Trustees and was project coordinator. He received an associate's degree in criminal Justice from Blue Ridge Community College and retired from James Madison University Police Department after 28 years of service.

On July 1, 1962, he married Wanda Davis Baker , who survives. Besides his mother and wife, he is survived by a son, Allen Lee Baker and wife, Shelley, of Harrisonburg; a daughter, Beth Baker Lawler and husband, Matt, of Staunton; grandchildren, Rebecca Elizabeth Baker , Laura Kathryn Baker , Stuart Allen Baker , Kinsley Elizabeth Lawler and Garrett Daniel Lawler.

The Rev. Jim Grogan and the Rev. Glen Langston will conduct a memorial service 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. The casket will remain closed.
