Hilda Thompson Duckworth, 92, passed away on June 12, 2012 in Jacksonville. She was born in East Point, Georgia on November 21, 1919 to Charles Hilliard Thompson, Sr. and Ary Myrtle Murphy Thompson. She worked for the Quartermaster Depot at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia during World War II. In 1941 she married Kermit M. Duckworth and lived in Miami, Florida until 1957 when the family moved to Jacksonville. Mrs. Duckworth worked in Data Processing for Winn-Dixie Headquarters where she retired after 25 years. She was predeceased by her husband Kermit, brothers Joseph E., James L., George L. Thompson and daughter-in-law Mary Reilly Duckworth. Survivors include daughter, Lynda Ross Simpson (SC); son, Daniel M. Duckworth (AL); daughter and son-in-law Janie D. and F. Wesley Herrick (Jacksonville); brother and sister-in-law, Charles H. Jr. and Margie Thompson (GA); sister and brother-in-law, Roline T. "Rhett" and C.W. "Mike" Carmichael (GA); sister-in-law Margaret Duckworth (VA); caregiver and close personal friend, Jennifer Connors; 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Duckworth will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday August 11, 2012 in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. with Mr. Roy Samples officiating. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private interment by the family will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to Mayo Clinic of Florida or the Florida Retina Institute-Jacksonville.
