Mrs. Elizabeth Shumate Kunnecke age 91, of Brandenburg, died Monday at Norton's Hospital in
Louisville.

She was the first Miss Meade County Fair, and she will be remembered for her elegance, her humor, and her favorite gold shoes. She attended Bowling Green Business University and was a secretary for the American Red Cross at Ft. Knox during World War II.

She enjoyed the Ekron Homemakers, was the first president of the Muldraugh Women's Club, and led Girl Scouts. An avid golfer, she belonged to both Hillcrest Women's and Sebring Women's Golf Associations.

She attended First Baptist Church in Brandenburg and was a member of the Muldraugh Baptist Church,
where she taught Sunday school.

She had a long and loving marriage of 60 years with Jack Kunnecke, who preceded her in death in 2002.

Mrs. Kunnecke is survived by: 2 Children: Jackie Reesor (David) of Brandenburg, Steve Kunnecke (Janet) of Tokyo, Japan, 5 Grandchildren: Joseph Ferguson, Jack Ferguson, Anna Kunnecke, Daniel Kunnecke and Abigail Kunnecke, 4 Great Grandchildren: Jennifer Ferguson, Jack Ferguson, Avalon Kunnecke and Francis Kunnecke.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday September 21st at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home with burial to follow in Buck Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM Thursday until 8:00pm and after 10:00am Friday.
