After a homicide investigation and an investigation by the County of Los Angeles, Examination at Forensic Science Center, Chief Medical Examiner-Coroner -- the death was ruled a suicide.
Father was Edward E. Fike (1872 - 1934). Edward E. Fike was born March 5, 1872 in De Kalb, Missouri, and died November 3, 1934 in Hopkins, Missouri. He is the father of Mary Florence's older brother Merlin Fike.
Mother was Frances Myrle Mahan (born about 1895 to Frank Mahan and Alice Mahan of Nodaway, Missouri). In 1940 census Mary Florence Fike was living with her brother Merlin Fike, her widowed mother Myrle Fike, and her grandparents.
Her husband at time of death was James "Jim" P. Miller. Prior to James P. Miller, she was married to Maurice Elliott Barnett (1930 - 2007), with whom she had three daughters. Her three daughters with Maurice Elliott Barnett were all born in Dallas County, Texas, per Texas Birth Index. Maurice Barnett later remarried to Kathleen DaSilva in California on October 14, 1979.
