Ayers Rites Are To Be On Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Winebrenner Ayers, 67, of Lester, who died at her home early Wednesday of a heart attack, will be conducted at the Missionary Baptist Church of Lester Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Carl Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Calfee Cemetery at Mt. Tabor.
Mrs. Ayers had spent a month in the Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital in Huntington where she was treated for a previous attack and had just returned home recently.
Born April 11, 1896, in Nicholas County, she was a daughter of the late Pascal and Selena Johnson Rippetoe.
A resident of Lester for the past 35 years, she was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, J. W. Ayers; a daughter, Mrs. J. Q. (Hope) Cooper of Coal City; four step-sons, John of Morristown, Pa., Ronzie of Detroit, Mich., Jiles of Corless and Benjamin of Lester; four step-daughters, Mrs. Monte (Hallie) Owens of Gaithersburg, Md., Mrs. Nash (Helen) Gray of Belva, Mrs. Thelma Haymaker of Covington, Va., and Mrs. Frances Stover of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, John Rippetoe of Wilmington, Del.; and four sisters, Mrs. Clara Ramsey of Lexington, Ky., Mrs. J. E. Mullins of Rupert, Mrs. Ethel Ray of Diamond, and Mrs. Gertrude Ramsey of Summersville.
The body will be taken from the Calfee Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Gomer Farley, Edward Farley, Frank Humphrey, Charles Parmelia, Roy Coulter and Joe Bond.
