Robert served as a Private First Class, Medical Department, 132nd Infantry, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Oxford County, Maine prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 12, 1942 in Portland, Maine. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of boots and shoes and also as Single, without dependents.

Robert was "Killed In Action" in the Bougainville Campaign, Solomon Islands during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
