Raquel C. Acevedo, 73, of Calexico passed away on Friday, October 26, 2007 after a long battle with cancer.

She was born May 23, 1934 in the county of Los Angeles. In 1941 she started her life in Calexico. Raquel, also known as "Elaine", graduated from Calexico High School in 1957. In 1959 she married David Acevedo and had two children, Gloria Elaine and David.

Raquel was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and at one point a contributor and helper to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church as well as a true member to the Lioness Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also loved gardening and making beautiful ceramic molds.

Raquel is survived by her daughter, Gloria Elaine Flores; son, David C. Acevedo; granddaughter, Elaine Monique Flores; sister-in-law, Josefina Chavez; nephews, Miguel, Gilbert and Eduardo Chavez and nieces, Marie Cruz and Isabel Chavez.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in Calexico.

Funeral Services will commence at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 3 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico. Burial will immediately follow at Mtn. View Cemetery.

Raquel was loved and cared for by many. She was a lady of great will and strength who will be missed and will always be remembered in our hearts forever.
