Daughter of Catherine Amanda Henry (1835 - 1878) and Jonathan E. Selman (B?-6 Sept 1858). She and her mother lived in Chattooga County, Georgia with her "Henry" grandparents after the death of her father, Jonathan and again after the death of her step father, Eli.

When her mother remarried to Eli Hoyle Rhyne Sr (1822 – 1877) she moved to AK and after his death the family moved back to GA and into the "Henry" household once again. She married Tandy Walker Allen on 20 Oct 1881 in Chattooga County, Georgia - ref: Chattooga County Marriage Book, 1879 - 1893 pg 80; listed as "Allen, Tandy W - Sellman, Fannie May"

As common back then there are a number of various spellings of her maiden name as: Silman, Selman, Sellman and Selma.

Fannie may not have a stone but her entire family is buried here. She is not buried with her mother in the Henry family cemetery in GA and her father's place of burial is unknown; it is assumed she is buried here in Edgemont. If you know exact dates (or another location) please contact us for correction.

Her death date is estimated between 1895 and 1900. And may be around 29 July 1898 to Aug 1898 per family letter.

UPDATE: Fannie contracted Pellagra, a vitamin deficiency and was committed to Bryce Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where she died. She is presumed to be buried in Bryce Hospital Cemetery also known as: Old Cemetery. Thank you bakepi for the info.

Locating her grave is difficult due to misplaced records, Univ. of AL /Fed. construction, and the fact that for years fraternities stole hospital grave markers as part of initiation rituals. These markers were only numbered and corresponded with the patients record thus ensuring no family stigma/shame from having someone's family member / name associated with the mental hospital.

I'm leaving her here so she'll be with family.
