Anne Dellinger Battle, formerly of Lincolnton, passed away on September 19, 2012 in Charlottesville, VA.
She was born August 24, 1916 in Lincoln County, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Poley Dellinger of Vale.
She was a graduate of North Brook High School and received her nursing degree from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Morganton. She worked as a nurse at the former Reeves Gamble Hospital and as an office nurse for Dr. John Gamble until her retirement.
Mrs. Battle was the wife of the late Herbert W. Battle, Sr., and the mother of the late Herbert W. "Herbie" Battle, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia B. Wilson and her husband William G. Wilson of Charlottesville, VA.; grandson, Allen Battle Wilson and his wife Carla Sordoni Wilson and their son Zachary Alexander Wilson of Alpharetta, GA., and granddaughter Laura Elizabeth Wilson of Arlington, VA.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 22 at 11 a.m. at the Boger City United Methodist Church, with visitation to precede the service at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Rev. Allan Van Meter and Rev. Joe Erving. Burial will be at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
