Dorothy R. (Gordon) Alliy, 79, of Winchendon, died peacefully Friday, March 23, 2012 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
Dorothy, daughter of the late William and Corrine (Buskey) Gordon, was born in Winchendon on April 22, 1932. She was married to Richard C. Alliy with whom she shared 51 wonderful years of marriage.
A homemaker for most of her life, Dorothy enjoyed reading and crocheting and camping with her husband Richard.
Besides her husband, Dorothy will be sadly missed by her children, Candace J. Bredberg and her husband Larry of Winchendon, Scott B. Alliy and his wife Helen of West Palm Beach, Florida, Richard C. Alliy, Jr. and his wife Vickie of Winchendon and Todd H. Alliy and his wife Jennifer of Cameron, North Carolina; one brother, Donald Gordon of Jaffrey, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by one son, Randy Alliy of Humble, Texas who died in 1994.
Family and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Dorothy's life by gathering for committal prayers in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon where they will be warmly received on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 10AM. It being her request, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in her memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association, MA/NH Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
