Carl Hartmann of 1317 N 4th St., Sheboygan, Monday morning at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, where he has been confined for the past four months. Born 21 NOV 1921, in Sheboygan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hartmann Sr., he attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Central Highschool in 1939.
He entered the Coast Guard service on 5 March 1941 and received a medical discharge on 2 DEC 1942, with the rating of seaman 1st class. Later he served a year with the merchant marine and also served a short time on an ore boat in the Great Lakes.
Survivors include his parents, four brothers and three sisters; Peter Jr. of Manitowoc, Fred of South Bend,IN,
David of Seattle, John of this city, Mrs. George (Marie) Banks of Milwaukee, Mrs. William (Emily) Brom and Mrs Joseph (Emma) Conrad of the this city.
Carl's body will be bought to the Ballhorn Funeral Chapel where the services will be held. The exact time will be determined later.

Funeral services for Carl Hartmann were held on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapel with the Rev. F.A. Bauer of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was made in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Peter Hartmann,Jr., Fred Hartmann, George Banks, John Hartman, William Brom and Joseph Conrad. During the services, Mrs Arno Krueger and Mrs. J. Arthur Koss sang "For Me to Live is Jesus" and "Mein Lieber eilt zur Ruh".
Military services were in charge of the Prescott-Bayens Post No.83, American Legion, with Post Commander H.A. Meyer in charge. Post Commander Martin Pilling had charge of the firing squad, composed of Martin Kilton, Christ Krust, Walter Mielke and August Mayer. J. Murphy acted as color bearer, Joseph Milanz as color guard, Dean Drott as bugler and Arno Zeinemann as sergeant-at-arms.
