John E. Pentico, son of Simon and Matilda Pentico, was born May 9, 1867, in Iowa and passed from this life October 12, 1943, at Goodland, at the age of 76 years, five months and three days.

He was united in marriage to Minnie Roberts August 14, 1893, at Concordia, and to this union 14 children were born. Two preceded their father in death, and the following survive him: Mrs. Clara Cochran of Aricona; Walter and Mrs. Ruby Weis of Goodland; Mark, Mrs. Pearl Kurman, and Mrs. Alton Cox of Junction City; Roy and Sam of Utah; Richard, Jim, and Chester of California; and Mrs. Martha Woods of Oklahoma; a brother, Bert Pentico of Agenda; 31 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Since the loss of his beloved wife in 1941, Mr. Pentico had expressed many times his willingness to be called to the eternal home and be reunited with his loved ones who had preceded him in death.

Services were held at the Agenda Methodist church, Monday, October 18, at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Mr. Long in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs. Lester Pentico and Mrs. Henry Lisher, with Mrs. Gresser accompanying. The pallbearers were J. A. Manning, Milo Houdek, James Trimble, John McHugh, Claus Larson and George Hyland. Interment was made in the Willoughby Cemetery.
