Harm W. Alberts, 69, Culbertson, died Thursday, August 6, 1992 at Community Hospital in McCook.

He was born July 3, 1923 in Culbertson to Harmon J. and Reka (Groothuis) Alberts. He grew up in Culbertson and was a 1941 graduate of Culbertson High School.

He joined the U.S. Army September 16, 1944, serving during World War II. He was discharged November 21, 1946.

On March 28, 1947 he married Virginia Vaughn at Culbertson. They farmed west of Culbertson and retired in 1983.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church; Adam-Miller American Legion Post No. 133; Moorhous-Steffen-Propp Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6219 where he was a lifetime member. He was also a member and past president of the 96th Infantry Division Association.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Dora Rice and two in infancy; two brothers, Andrew and one in infancy.

Survivors include his wife of Culbertson; two daughters, Bette and husband Keith Bean of McCook, Connie and husband Ron Barger of Culbertson; four brothers, Albert and John of McCook; Walter of Oxford; and Elmer of Palisade; two sisters, Etta Haussler of Emmett, Idaho; Ella Rathe of Culbertson; and five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson with the Rev. David Bergquist officiating.

Interment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery. Friends may call and memorials may be given in his name and left at Herrmann Funeral Home in Culbertson. Herrmann Funeral Home of Culbertson is in charge of arrangements.
