The painter Georg Hallbom, Tänglings in Etelhem died on Tuesday, 21 December 1971. Hallbom was a native from Gotland and had most of his life lived in Etelhem. Since youth he had worked as a painter. A period he was resident in America and worked among others in Chicago. But he then returned to his home island again. During the years in America, he served also a time in the U.S. Navy on a minesweeper.
In Etelhem Hallbom made himself known as an accomplished professional and honest person. He was entrusted some municipal and general assignments. Even in the Home Guard, Georg Hallbom was active.
Hellbom became a widower in 1940, when his wife died when the youngest child was born and he was left alone with three children, of which the smallest newborn.
