Dorothy A. Gross, 86, formerly of North 77th Avenue West, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, in Lake Haven Manor.
Dorothy was born in Duluth on Nov. 10, 1912, to Andrew and Muriel Derby. Andrew Derby died when Dorothy was a young child, and she was raised by Fred Thibideau. On July 28, 1955, Dorothy married Raymond Gross in Duluth. Dorothy worked as a nurses aide at Birches Sanitarium and St. Luke's Hospital and also held numerous other jobs.
She was a former member of Norton Park United Methodist Church, formerly attended Duluth Gospel Tabernacle and most recently attended Fond du Lac Community Church. She enjoyed time spent at Hal Smith's Health Spa and had a love for growing flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; and a son, David Warner.
Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Penno-Bergren of Duluth and Betty (Frank) Byers of St. Mary's, W. Va.; son, James Penno of Quincy, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Thursday in Fond du Lac Community Church. No visitation. Inurnment in Oneota Cemetery.
