Dan lived in New York and Pennsylvania until he joined the Air force in 1947. While in the service, he traveled through all of the states in America, with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii. After four years of service, he settled in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
In 1951, Dan and wife Roseanna celebrated the birth of their daughter, Diane.
In the late 1960s Dan met his soulmate and life partner, Geraldine "Jerry" Adams.
From 1976 to 1982, Dan and his family lived in Saint Mary Parish, Louisiana. During these years, Dan enjoyed his position at Triple H Welding as a skilled sandblaster and painter.
In 1982, the Donohue family moved back to Saint Petersburg, where Dan worked as a security guard.
