FIT OF TEMPER IS BLAMED FOR MAN'S SUICIDE

Sheriff's deputies yesterday attributed the death of Wiley Shelton of the Alexander section to a bullet wound self-inflicted during a "fit of temper".

They said their investigation revealed that Shelton, 44, became angered at his home yesterday, threatened to slay members of his family if they didn't leave the house, then killed himself before they had gone 100 yards.

After hearing two shots fired, they returned to the house and found Shelton lying on the floor with a pistol bullet through his head. He died a short time later.

Surviving Shelton are his wife and five children.

Dr. George F. Baler, Jr., Buncombe County coroner, investigated and said no inquest will be held.
