He served his country as an infantry man in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Federal service after 30 years, beginning in 1956 as Director of Naval Publication and Printing Pacific Northwest Region.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Ana Camacho; and a sister, Brigida Bamba. Ben is survived by his wife, Carmelita; and four children, Tony, Richard, Venetia Benito and Genevieve Guinn. He is also survived by two brothers; five sisters; and 13 grandchildren.
