Wilton was born on December 8, 1910 the son of Adolf and Emma (Tetzlaff) Alvin in the Town of Wautoma. He attended school in Wautoma, and then moved with his parents to Green Lake, where he worked as a Carpenter and Contractor for the Alvin and Alvin Company for 50 years. On September 12, 1937 he married Wilma Mae Moore and they made their home in Green Lake. He was a member of Waukau United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons; Richard (JoAnne) Alvin of Sarona, WI, and Michael (Carol) Alvin of Waunakee, WI, two grandchildren; Patrick (Krista) and Christopher (Lori), two great-grandchildren; Zachary and Nicholas, a sister-in-law; Mabel Alvin of TX, as well as several nieces and nephews. Wilton was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wilma, and two brothers; Arnold and Ervin.
