Fred Steven Koenig, 61 of Monroe died at 12 p.m. Tuesday at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Friday. Rev. Lawrence Detruf, pastor of the First Church of God will officiate with burial at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Clyde, Ohio. Born August 13, 1949 in the Bronx, New York he was the son of Samuel and Sarah (Weinstein) Koenig. He married Julia Ann Pump on October 1, 1980 in Clyde, Ohio. He was employed by DTE at the nuclear warehouse at Fermi II, retiring in 2007. He also served as local 223 chief stewart for eight years. He enjoyed fishing, target shooting and had a store at Gibraltar Trade Center selling sports memorabilia. Surviving are his wife Julia, daughters Holly Koenig of Monroe and Jayne (Ken) Ellison of Belleville and grandson Jarred Hall.
