Rock Musician. A drummer, he was a founding member of the 1960s music group the Sir Douglas Quintet. During his high school years, he was a Golden Gloves amateur boxer, prior to gravitating towards a career in music. Along with his friend Doug Sham, fueled and influenced by the "British Invasion" the Sir Douglas Quintet came to fruition. They ventured out to California and came under the guidance of record producer Huey P. Meaux who secured them under his Tribe label. They would score a Top-20 hit with "She's About a Mover" (1965) and followed this with the Top-40 single "The Rains Came" (1966). After the group disbanded during the early 1970s, Perez went onto become the proprietor of a recording studio in the Topanga, California-area. He died of complications from cirrhosis of the liver.
