George Riley Aldrich was born 29 Nov 1854 in Oakland County, Michigan, the son of George W. Aldrich and Martha A. Sturgis, the family came to Gratiot County in the spring of 1865. He married Olive Alida Thomas, (daughter of David Thomas and Ann C. Maples) 1 Jan 1879 in Lafayette Township, Gratiot County, Michigan; married by Justice of the Peace; witnesses were Hiram Pitts and Charles Green; the couple made their home in Lafayette Township and lived their lives out there. They had children: Martha, 1882; Emma, 1883; Irvin, 1886; Olive, 1887; Cyrus, 1889; George, 1891; Bert, 1894; Dewey, 1897; Gordon, 1989; Arthur, 1903 and one child that died in infancy.

After the death of his wife Olive, George married Mrs. Martha M. (Kleinhans) Spears of Midland Co., on 14 Sep 1910 in Lafayette.
