Peg was a member of the McGrawsville United Methodist Church, a 1939 graduate of Sweetser High School and a former member of the Gamma Nu Sorority, the Clay Township Homemakers Club and the United Methodist Women. She worked in the office of Peru dentist Dr. Raymond Kahre. She and her husband Thurman enjoyed Wintering in Bradenton, FL for 35 years and traveled all over the world together. She enjoyed being with her family and making beautiful afghans for all of them. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing projects and making scrapbooks.
Surviving is a son Jay Agness and his wife Kathy of Cedar Falls, IA; a daughter Elaine Glassburn of Bunker Hill, IN; daughters in law Barbara Powell of Bellefontaine, OH and Jeanne Powell of Glen, NH; grandchildren Teri (Doug) Roberts, Tamera (Rick) Allison, Robyn (William) Gruber, Kari (Matthew) Halke, Kevin Glassburn, Michael (Eliana) Agness, Susan (Kenneth) Larimer and Marcia (Michael) Kochel; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including Judith Gruen, Janet McGriff, Nancy Alexander and Peggy DeVenter. Two sons Pastor Max Powell and Jerry Powell preceded her in death.
A service celebrating the life of Peg Agness will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the McGrawsville United Methodist Church with Pastors Steve Austin and Kenny Cole officiating. Burial will be in Clymer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday and 9:00-11:00 AM Saturday at the McGrawsville United Methodist Church.
