Carrie Bernice Newton Aderholdt entered into eternity on November 8, 2001 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born July 16, 1921 to Jessie Wilson Newton and William Lester Newton in Gastonia, N.C. She was married to Charles Bernard Aderholdt, who preceded her in death on April 27, 1965 in Kingsport.
Mrs Aderholdt grew up in Hildebran, NC and lived there except for the time she and her husband spent in Massachusetts during his service with the Navy in 1944-45. They moved to Kingsport in 1958.
Mrs. Aderholdt was a long standing and active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, participated enthusiastically in the Sonrise Emmaus Community, and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and Women's Symphony Committee.
Her primary role in life was that of mother to her six daughters. They are Carole Beverly Aderholdt o Greenbelt, MD, Cheryll Bernadette Kunos of Akron, OH, Catherine Bernice Harvey of Kingsport, Caren Beth Rowland of Roswell, GA, Cecilie B Aderholdt of Kinsport, and Cyydnie Barbara Bedford of Kingsport
In addition to her daughters, Mrs Aderholdt is survived by sons-in-law, Andrew A Kunos, Michael J Harvey, George F Rowland, Jr. and Jeffery P Bedford; two franddaughters, Ellen Michael Harvey and Elisabeth Cydnie Bedford; seven grandsons, Dr Charles Andrew Kunos, Daniel Eugene Kunos, Robert Jackson (Jake) Piercy, Clayton Aderholdt Piercy, Joseph Bernard Harvey, Samuel Paul Bedford and William David Bedford of Kingsport; a sister, Vivian Wilson; and an aunt, Virginia Shepherd, both of Hildebran, NC; numerous nieces, a nephew, and many cherished friends
Two brothers, Evan Newton and Howard Newton; and three sisters, Bonnie Pope and Hazel Shell of Hickory, NC and Bobbie Lee Hensley of Hildebran, NC predeceased her.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 PM Saturday at Hamlett-Dodson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted 2PM Sunday at Holy Trintity Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Soop and Reverend Caryl Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park with grandchildren serving as pallbearers
