Miner/mechanic shop owner
Charles Alderette, 56, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Miners' Colfax Medical Center in Raton. He was born Sept. 6, 1955, in Raton to Victor and Selena Valenzuela Alderette.

Charles was a very loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a retired miner and mechanic shop owner for more than 30 years. He never turned away a customer regardless of how many cars he had waiting in line for repair. He loved to fish and go camping any chance he had. But his greatest passion was for his family especially his grandchildren. He is described by his grandchildren as the "greatest grandpa in the world." Charles also had a profound respect and love for his friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Selena Alderette, sister Gloria Alderette, and brothers Johnny, Alex and Christopher Alderette.

He is survived by his wife Joann, daughters Shawnee (Steve) Lovato of Peterson Air Force Base, Joannie Alderette of Farmington; sons Leon (Valerie) Alderette of Omaha, Neb., Adam Tapia of Las Cruces and Jesse Martinez of Richmond, Texas; sisters Patsy Garcia and companion Daniel of Raton, Maryann (Jeff) Barenberg of Amarillo, Texas, Regina (Russ) Jaramillo of Gallup; brothers Tommy (Carol) Alderette, Victor (Lupe) Alderette, Lawrence (Marsha) Alderette all of Raton, and Chris Alderette of Stockton, Calif. Charles is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation was Sept. 5 in the Chapel of the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral Home. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary was Sept. 6 at the St. Patrick's/St. Joseph's Catholic Church recited by Frank and Nancy Maldonado. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection followed with John Trambley as the Celebrant. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements for Charles Alderette are under the direction of the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
