The William Hart family emigrated from England to Ontario, Canada before 1851, when William and Mary appear in the 1851 and 1861 Canada Censuses in Seymour, Northumberland County, Ontario.
George's younger brother, John A Hart, emigrated from Canada to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Sault Ste. Marie) in 1880 with his family; George apparently followed a few years later with his. The brothers probably made this decision based on the Michigan Land Grant program of the 1880s, but their parents and siblings seem to have remained in Canada or were already deceased.
