Funeral services for Henry L. Bastian, 75, 209 Trier street, Brillion, will be held at the Brillion Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. William W. Riffe officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Bastian passed away at 7:40 a.m. Saturday at Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay, following a lingering illness.

On October 22, 1903, he was married to Elizabeth Zick at the Brillion Methodist Church, and they resided on a farm in the town of Brillion. He became active in the insurance business, and ten years ago retired from the farm which was taken over by his son, Herbert.
Mr. and Mrs. Bastian came to their home in Brillion, where he remained active in his insurance agency until his death. In October of 1953 the couple observed their golden anniversary with a family dinner and an open house for their host of friends.
Bastian was an active and devoted member of the Brillion Methodist Church and of the Men's Brotherhood of the church. For 48 years, he served as secretary of the congregation, and was a class leader for many years.
At the time of his death, he was a trustee of the Brillion Camp Meeting Association, and vice-president of the Equity Fire Insurance Company of Forest Junction. At one time he served several terms as clerk of the Allcott District school board in the town of Brillion.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three sons, Ralph of Kaukauna, Herbert, Brillion Route 1 and Nelson of Olds, Alberta, Canada; one daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Wolfmeyer, Brillion; one brother, Ernst, Brillion; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Koch, Vermillion, South Dakota; and Mrs. Frieda Smith of Oakdale, Lousiana; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the Techtman-Wieting Funeral Home at Hilbert where the body will lie in state Monday afternoon and evening and at the church until the time of services.
