Mrs. Clara Schmidt

Mrs. Clara Schmidt, 88, of Cecil (Shawano County) formerly of Belgium, died unexpectedly Thursday at her daughter's home.

She leaves 145 direct descendants.

She was born Jan. 28, 1888, at Wauwatosa the daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna Yehle Krier.

On October 18, 1908 she married to Charles Schmidt at Lake Church. He died Feb. 24, 1949.

Survivors are four daughters; Mrs. Carla Mueller of Milwaukee, Mrs. Ann Watry of Cecil. Mrs. Olive Watry of Belgium and Mrs. Clarice Buchholz of Grafton, seven sons: Carl of Colgate, Melvin of Milwaukee, Lester of Jefferson, Oscar of Cedar Grove, Nicholas of Grafton, Ralph and Myron both of Belgium, 50 grandchildren and 84 great-grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Bertha Nitzke of Milwaukee, and a brother, Alex Krier of Lahr, Germany.

An infant son and an infant daughter preceded her in death.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake Church. The Rev. Ralph Schmidt, a grandson of Hitchcock, Tex., will be celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Port Washington.

Friends may call at the Jungers Funeral Home, Dacada, after 3 p.m. Sunday. A Parish vigil will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday and the firemen will meet at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Sunday.
