Edward DeZell, 74, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Pasadena, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2012, at Mexia City Cemetery with Rev. Alan Van Hooser officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home in Teague at 12:20 p.m. to travel to the cemetery. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Edward was born in Mexia, Texas, to the late Leon and Jewell DeLo DeZell. He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1956. Edward worked as a dispatcher for Houston Lighting & Power Co. until his retirement. He was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church in Pasadena.

He was preceded in death by brother, Bob DeZell; and a sister, Lena Frances Sims.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nelda DeBerry DeZell, of Pasadena; son, Steve DeZell and wife, Mary, of Winnie, TX; daughter, Lori Druckenbrodt and husband, Bobby, of LaPorte; grandchildren, Jessica and husband, James, Jonathan "Charlie", Justin, Christopher, Mason, and Brittney; great-grandchildren, Davin and Christopher; sisters, Kathleen Hager and husband, Ercel, and Datha Crutchfield, both of Mexia; brothers, Donald DeZell, of Teague, and Glendon DeZell and wife, Athlee, of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Ernestine DeBerry White an husband, Glenn; other relatives and friends.
