Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Derickson

Elizabeth "Betty" K. Derickson, age 86, of Rhinelander, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rhinelander. She was born on June 22, 1925 in Rhinelander the daughter of Leonard and Amy (Grandine) Steele. Betty married Orand "Pete" Krause on April 15, 1944; he preceded her in death on July 3, 1972. On November 18, 1972, she married Alfred Derickson; he preceded her in death on June 27, 2004. Betty lived many years in Argonne and retired in Rhinelander. She enjoyed her grandchildren, knitting, sewing, canning and family get-togethers. Grandma was always warm and giving and greeted everyone with open arms. The little ones always brought a smile to her face and joy to her heart. She is survived by Daughters: Gloria (Roy) Curtis, Bellflower, Washington Karen (Edward) Balsewicz, Minneapolis, MN Dawn (Michael) Bourdo, Milwaukee LaVon (James) Sanger, Rhinelander Sons: Wayne (Leone) Krause, Brick, NJ Karl (Kay) Krause, Green Bay Kurtis (Sue) Krause, Rhinelander Lorry (Judy) Krause, Rhinelander 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren 3 step-children Sisters: Mary (Al) Cole, Pullman, Washington Joanne (Myron) Nelson, Green Bay Joy (Fritz) Bauermeister, New Richmond Dorothy Guth, Missoula, MT Brothers: Donald (Mary Kay) Steele, Ontario, CA Morton Steele, Cincinnati, OH Sister-in-law: Dorothy Robarge Preceded in death by her parents; Amy and Leonard, husbands; Orand "Pete" Krause and Alfred Derickson, a brother, Charles Steel and great grandson, Kyle Guidice. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 17 from 9-11:00 a.m. at Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Peter Korthals officiating.
