country music musician. Born Gerald McEwen Rivers. He started playing professionally in 1945 and became a member of Hank Williams' Drifting Cowboys around July 14, 1949. Also a member of Hank Williams, Junior's Cheatin' Hearts. In late 1974, a member of Lamar Morris' Morris Code. In 1977, toured with Bob McNett, Hillous Butrum, & Don Helms, as The Drifting Cowboy and 1989, minus McNett and Butrum, toured wtih Jett Williams, until his death. In 1977, in "That's Country" with the Drifting Cowboys. Had his own band "The Homesteaders" and released an album "THE HOMESTEADERS - A NEW FRONTIER". On albums: "Jim Owens and the Drifting Cowboys - A SALUTE TO HANK WILLIAMS - A SONG FOR US ALL", "DRIFTING COWBOYS - TRIBUTE TO HANK WILLIAMS", "DRIFTING COWBOYS - THE BEST OF HANK WILLIAMS' ORIGINALS". Recorded and performed with many Country Music Legends. In 1964, wrote, "Hank Williams-From Life to Legend".
