He was born March 21, 1918, in Hillsgrove, a son of Charles and Sadie Howard Boyles.
Carl had retired from Ray-O-Vac and enjoyed hunting and his beagles.
He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, the former Geneva S. McCarty, who passed away in 2008; brothers, Howard, Charles, Donald, Sidney, Walter and Gordon and sisters, Pearl Davis and Hazel Ketchum.
Carl is survived by four sons, Eugene E. (Mary) of Montoursville, Robert C. (Laura) of Muncy Valley, Donald S. "Doc" (Bonnie) of Montoursville and William C. (Christine) of Pennsdale; eight grandchildren, Patsy Stackhouse, Jeffrey Boyles, Roberta Boyles, Robert Boyles, Richard Boyles, Douglas Boyles, Meghan Graham and Jeremy Boyles; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Richard M. Barner officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m.
