Dancer, Entertainer. She is remembered as a performer and choreographer with the popular group "Pan's People" from the iconic BBC 1 music series "Top of the Pops". Born Felicity Ann Colby to an academic family, she was raised in Clinton, New York, and Andover, Massachusetts, and was dancing by the time she was three. By her late teens she had studied at the Joffre Ballet School of New York City, New York, appeared in the musical plays "Bye Bye Birdie", "Damn Yankees", "Annie Get Your Gun", and other theatrical fare, and had choreographed a production of "Bye Bye Birdie" for Harvard University. In 1966 she and her first husband moved to London, England where she worked as a go-go dancer at a Soho nightclub before becoming a founding member of Pan's People in December of that year. The troupe appeared in Germany on "Beat! Beat!", was seen in the Belgian series "Vibrato" and the BBC's "The Beat Room", and was even in a Belgian presentation of Johann Strauss II's "Der Fledermaus", prior to their May 30, 1968, debut on "Top of the Pops" in which they danced to the Elvis Presley hit song "US Male". The slight outfits of the females in the groups quickly became an audience favorite as they did their routines to the hits-of-the-week. From 1971 on Flick Colby mostly concentrated on choreography, then after Pan's People folded in 1976 she stayed to help with Top of the Pop's successive replacement ensembles Ruby Flapper, Legs and Company, and Zoo. She authored a 1979 instruction book entitled "Let's Go Dancing" and commuted between London and upstate New York for a time before a final relocation to America in 1984. In later years she ran a gift shop called Paddywacks and fought an extended battle with breast cancer before her death from pneumonia. Today her image hangs in London's National Portrait Gallery while she continues to be seen almost daily on reruns of "Top of the Pops".
