Keith A. Benovengo was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1956. Beno, as he was affectingly known to his friends, lived in Union, New Jersey prior to settling in Scotch Plains, New Jersey in 1984.

A 1974 Graduate of Union High School, he was a member of the schools State Champion Baseball Team in the same year. Beno graduated Kean College in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business.

He worked in purchasing for many different Electrical Supply Companies over the years beginning with, Kelly & Salles, SPT Electric, Square Electric and Cooper Electric.

Beno was an active member in the Kean College Alumni Association, a coach in the SPF Little League, Basketball Coach at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Director of the Union County CYO Basketball League, and Vice-President of the Central Jersey North Basketball Association.

He was a New Jersey ASA District II Commissioner for Union County, ASA Umpire & Co-Founder of the Greater Union County Softball Umpires Association, a member of the Blue Raider Athletic Booster Club, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1711 of Westfield, a devoted Green Bay Packer Fan, and a Yankee fan who attended numerous Yankee Opening Day Games, as well as several World Series.

Keith is predeceased by his parents Edward and Yolanda Benovengo.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years Karen Schweitzer-Benovengo, their two loving children Lauren N. and Paul A. and his caring father and mother in-law Arthur and Mildred Schweitzer.

Visitation at Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Avenue, Scotch Plains, New Jersey on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Service held on Friday August 31, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. at Rossi Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.

Interment follows at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, New Jersey.

Donations may be made to the SPF Blue Raider Athletic Booster Club and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed c/o Jim Killeen 1415 Clover Lane Scotch Plains, New Jersey 07076 in lieu of flowers.
