Eleanor F. Boyde – 76, passed away in the comfort of her Wallace Street home on Sunday, August 26, 2012.

Born in Manhattan NY on March 5, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Margaret (Nichols) Luke.

Eleanor was previously married to William Boyde of Austin TX.

Eleanor grew up and attended schools in New York City and later continued her education at the Community College of Vermont. As a young woman living in NY, she worked as a telephone operator for AT&T. Moving to Vermont in 1970; she spent the rest of her career as a bookkeeper, working for Montgomery Ward, NAPA Auto Parts and Cecil Percy Roofing, all of Waterbury. From 1983 until her retirement in 2001, Eleanor worked as the bookkeeper for Waterbury Home Health and continued following their merger with Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice in Berlin.

A woman of strong faith and a giving spirit, Eleanor was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the church choir and the United Methodist Women. Her other memberships included Town and Country Home Demonstration and the Waterbury Area Senior Citizens. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, baking and exercising.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Joy L. Bond of Peoria AZ, and Glenn O. Boyde and his partner, Shannon Ghostlaw of Colchester; her 2 grandchildren, Jayden Boyde and Tiffini Boyde; a sister, Janice Jackson of Far Rockaway NY, her brothers, Sidney Luke, Jr. and Carl Luke, both of Queens NY, and Alfred Luke of Mount

Vernon NY; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by a sister and two brothers.

Memorial services for Eleanor will be con-celebrated from the Wesley United Methodist Church in Waterbury on Sunday, September 2, 2012 beginning at 10 a.m. as part of the worship service. A light luncheon will follow at the Waterbury Area Senior Citizens Center, 14 Stowe Street, Waterbury.
