He was born July 2, 1913, at Oswego to Ross and Rose (Peters) Sykes. He attended schools at Oswego.
Mr. Sykes worked many years at the former Koons Manufacturing Co. as a welder. (The family states this is incorrct in the published obituary. Dan lived in California, working for over 20 years for The Caterpillar Company, before retiring and moving back to Kansas.)
His wife, Almeda "Bonnie" Sykes, died June 24, 1995. They were married Aug. 6, 1939, at Altamont. (They also did Foster Care.)
Mr. Sykes served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Oswego First Baptist Church.
A graveside service was held in the Oakwood Cemetery at Parsons. Military rites were conducted by the Brown-Bishop Post 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Parsons.
