Funeral services were held yesterday ( Wednesday) at 2:00 p. m. at the Bethel Reformed church for Mrs. Ben Vonk, 65, who died at the Sioux Center Community hospital Saturday, March 15, after a lengthy illness.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Louis Tamminga and burial was in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of the Cooperative Funeral Home.
Mrs. Vonk, the former Jennie Katze, was born November 17, 1903, at Ireton. She spent her youth and attended school at Estelline, S.D., where she married Be Ben Vonk, January 25, 1922. They spent several years farming west of Sioux Center. They have lived in Sioux Center the past 16 years.
She is survived by her husband and eleven children: six sons, Henry of Heron Lake, Minn., George and Gerrit of Ireton and Benjamin, Peter and Eugene Arthur of Sioux Center, five daughters Jeanette (Mrs. John W. Feekes) and Dorothy (Mrs, Andrew Van Bochove) of Hull, Gertrude (Mrs. Elmer Vande Berg) of Sioux Center, Goldie (Mrs. Duane De Jager) of Maurice; and Katherine (Mrs. Harold Vande Kieft) of Orange City; two brothers, Pete Katze, Porderville, Wis. , and Gerrit Katze, Breton, S. D.; four sisters, Mrs. Gerrit Kalsbeek, Estelline, S. D., Mrs. Frank Kalsbeek, Coarsegold, Calif. , Mrs. Al Elitzer, Lakewood, Calif., and Mrs, Helen Dolislager, Bellflower, Calif., 46 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a grandchild, Delores Vande Berg of November 4, 1963.
