For those who knew Chuck, he was a wonderful person to be around. He always had an ear to listen. Always had good advise and life experiences to share with anyone who would listen. He was a great man with the kids he mentored at Lincoln High School. He never put them down or tell them anything negative. He would always find the good in the kids and help them work on making themselves better. He will be missed by everyone who's life he touch. In memory of him I will celebrate his long life with happiness for I know he would not want tears of sadness, but tears of joy for all he accomplished in his 81 years.

Charles "Chuck" L. Allen, 81, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.

Chuck was born May 9, 1931 in Kearney, Nebraska to Leslie and Jennie Allen. He graduated from Lexington High School in Nebraska and went on to earn his Bachelors Degree in Economics from Hastings College. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1949 to 1959.

Chuck was a salesman for Morman Feeds for many years and later became an Independent Insurance Sales Agent. He also spent many years mentoring students at Lincoln High School, working at Earl May, and most recently being a greeter at the Harding Hills HyVee. Chuck was a member of First Federated Church and Waveland Park Masonic Lodge #654.

He loved horses and enjoyed riding. Chuck also loved music and played the saxophone. He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. Chuck had a very outgoing and warm personality and enjoyed spending time with and meeting new people.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 60 years, Miriam; children, Chuck (Jill) Allen, Cyndie (Jim) Norton and Sue Allen; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, George (Joan) Allen; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
