Obituary:

Sidney Raymond Ames (Sid), 78, a 40-year resident of Apache Junction, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 17th, 2012. He was born in Seattle, Washington, on March 3, 1933, graduated from Truman High School in Minn., and received a degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State College. After serving two years as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army, he then continued his career as a civil engineer and construction estimator. He was a committed Christian, faithful husband, devoted father, and fun-loving grandfather. His humor touched so many lives! He was reunited in heaven with his wife Merilyn of 44 years, his brother Doug and Sister-in-law Betty of Seattle, Washington, parents Ray and Vera Ames of Apache Junction, and two grandsons Christopher and Geoffrey Ames of Flagstaff. He is survived by his son Greg and wife Teri Ames of Flagstaff, Az., son Brad and wife Zana and grandchildren David, Cayla, and Sam Ames of San Jose, California and daughter Kim and husband Joel and grandchildren Taylor, Tanner, and Trevor Huff of Largo, Fl. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 27th, 5:00p-7:00p at Mountain View Funeral Home 7900 East Main Street, Mesa, Az. 85207. A Committal Service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28th 1:00p at Mountain View Cemetery with the Memorial Service following at 3:00p at Saguaro Hills Baptist Church, 1402 N. Power Rd., Mesa, Az. 85205. Since Sid enjoyed hiking, there will be a Memorial Hike on Sunday Jan. 29th starting at 2:00p at Lost Dutchman State Park, Cholla Day Use Area, in Apache Junction, Az, with a time of reflection and reminiscing of Sid's Life starting at 3:30p. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Baptist Lifeline Mission, Designee: Missionary Muriel Wilson, 3241 W. 44th Ave. Denver, Colorado, 80211.
