He was the son of Earl E. and Grace Haines.
Keith died while driving himself and Pearl to Ottumwa. He just suddenly closed his eyes and died. Pearl was able to get the car stopped and flagged down a passing car for help as at that time she did not know how to drive.

Keith Anderson Haines Keith Anderson Haines, son of Carl and Grace Haines, was born June 3, 1904, in Wayne county, Iowa, near Promise City and passed away Oct. 23, 1969 in his automobile about seven miles west of Ottumwa. He was rushed to the Ottumwa hospital where every effort was made to revive him by doctors and nurses, but to no avail. His wife, Pearl, was with him and was able to stop the car and flag down help.
He was united in marriage to Pearl Faris Aug. 7, 1926. He was a member of the Christian church of Promise City and the IOOF lodge. A veteran of World War II, he was serving as Fifth District Vice Commander of the American Legion. He was a long-time employe of Morrow's Meat Market.
He leaves to revere his memory his wife, Pearl; his mother and two sisters, Thelma (Brown) and Ruby (Peterson), all of San Diego, Calif., several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday Oct. 26, at the Liggett Funeral home with F. J. Bussey of Moulton officiating. Burial was in Southlawn cemetery in Seymour. Milton Albertson sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer."
Pallbearers were Leno Cox, Don Spillman, E. N. Huston and Ed Dustin, all Legionnaires. The American Legion gave its memorial service at the funeral home and graveside service at the cemetery.
