Herbert A. Briggs, a resident of Sammamish, WA, died August 3, 2012 at Marionwood Nursing Home. He was 81.
At his request no services will be held.
Born August 29, 1930 in Livingston, MT to Herbert Anson and Thelma Louetta Snavely Briggs, the first of four children.
He grew up in Montana, and began his career with Northern Pacific Railroad in Livingston, enlisted in the US Navy and served four years service during the Korean War.
He married Joan Carole Scudder in Livingston in 1957, and he and his family moved to Seattle in 1966.
He retired in 1985 after 38 years of service with Burlington Northern Railroad.
He finished his second career as a Trust Specialist for US Bank, retiring in 1994.
His family remembers him as an avid fisherman, bowler, cook, and gardener. He especially enjoyed vacationing with his family. He was a life long member of Livingston Elks Lodge 246.
He was well noted for his gourmet meals and beautiful begonia baskets.
His survivors include his wife Joan of 54 years, daughter Laurie Briggs of Burien, WA, son Larry (Dana) Briggs, two grandchildren, Colter and Connor Briggs, of Enumclaw, WA, sister Marlene (Erlynn) Harris of Livingston, MT and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bernie Briggs, and sister Sylvia Cassidy.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to American Cancer Society , or Cancer Research organizations of your choice.
Private family graveside services will be held in Montana.
