Marion L."Ross" Bix, 73, of 546 S. Webster Ottumwa, died at 1:53 am Aug. 24, 2012 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born July 15, 1939 in Ottumwa to Donald Marion and Margaret Lucille McCarty Bix. He married Yvonne Speer on Sept. 11, 1971.

Ross served in the U.S.Navy. He had worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works, and for Meadow Gold Dairy and was maintenance supervisor at South Oak Towers.

Surviving is his wife, Yvonne; a daughter, Sheri Bix of France; a son, Rick Bix Jay of Carthage, MO; two step-daughters, Debra Clouse of Ankeny and Donnetta Ware of Ottumwa; two step-sons, Michael Speer of Anaheim, Calif., and Patrick Speer of Plainfield, Conn.; nine grandchildren; ;seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob Bix and Mike Bix, both of Ottumwa; and two sisters, Sandy Wright and Marita Ruble, both of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Eva Mae Bix, Rozetta Bix, Shelva Sly and Judy Greer; and a brother, Jack Bix.

His body has been cremated and no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society, Ottumwa, Iowa or the American Cancer Society. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
