Chester Eugene Boxx, passed away August 10, 2012. He was born February 1, 1926 in Doctors Inlet, Clay County. His entire life was spent in the Clay/Duval area. In his youth he worked for Western Union delivering telegrams on his bicycle. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After that he worked for the US Postal Service for 40 years, retiring in 1984. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held many Ward and Stake callings and the one most dear to him was his 15 years service in the Orlando Temple beside his beloved wife. Survivors include his wife of 65 years Rachel Myers Boxx and his children, Eugene Boxx (Raina), Debra Johns, Dennis Boxx (Dianna), Janice Self (Richard), Sisters, Jeanette Early, Virginia Lee and Shirley Sanders, 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Mr. Boxx was predeceased by his parents, Sherwood and Lola Boxx, 1 sister, Kathleen Combs (1976), 3 brothers, Clyde (1983), Bernie (1995), Maysel (1996). Mr. Boxx was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather that touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. The viewing will be held Sunday (today) August 12, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32221. Funeral services will be held August 13, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 461 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Florida. He will be laid to rest at Peoria Cemetery on Jefferson Ave. in Orange Park, Florida. The family requests in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to Community Hospice Foundation, at 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL., 32257.
