MILL CREEK - Harry Devoe, 76, of Mill Creek, died Friday in Sydney City Hospital. Born in Mill Creek, he was a son of the late Michael
and Katherine(Pero) Devoe. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Bras d'Or. He was employed at the Bras d'Or Coal Co. for 28 years and later as a
seaman on the Great Lakes for 20 years, until retiring in 1970. He is survived by his wife, the former Florence Marsh; seven daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Doug Poole), North Sydney; Beverly (Mrs. James McGrath), Thorold, Ont.; Angie (Mrs. John MacNeil), Big Pond Centre; Brenda (Mrs. Glen Sexton), Big Bras d'Or; Mabel (Mrs. Gerald D'Eon), Fall River; Lorraine (Mrs. Gerald Doyle), Dartmouth, and Jane (Mrs. Gary MacNeil), Alder Point; two sons, Kevin, at home, and Brian, Oshawa, Ont.; a brother, Arthur, Mill Creek; a sister, Olive (Mrs.Theodore Marsh), Mill Creek; and 17 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa, and four brothers, Stephen, Charlie, Hartland and James.
The body is in George R. Francis and Son Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Church, Bras d'Or,
with burial in the parish cemetery.
