The funeral of Eulalie Mehlhop Ahern, 83, of Dwight will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dwight, the Rev. James Rickey officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. before the funeral at the church Saturday. Von Qualen-Harris Funeral Home, Dwight, is in charge of arrangements. She died Wednesday (Nov. 27, 1996) at Heritage Manor, Dwight. Memorials may be made to St. Patricks Catholic Church.
Surviving are two nieces and a very dear friend, Loraine Johnson, who worked for Mrs. Ahern for many years. (Chas E 815 942-6479?)
She was born Dec. 11, 1912, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence W. and Mathilde M. (Myers) Mehlhop. She married Clinton J. Ahern Jr. Dec. 27, 1950, in Chicago. He died Dec. 1, 1974.
Her parents also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ahern, a housewife, was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a former president of the Dwight Womens Club and was a member of Dwight Womens Republican Club and the Dwight Historical Society.
She and her husband co-authored the pageant for the Dwight Centennial in 1953. Mrs. Ahern was a very active volunteer at the Fox Center and was also a volunteer at the Dwight Public Library.
