Gamblin was the eldest son of Solomon James Allred and Martha Patsy Weeks. His father died when he was about ten years old.

He married Mary Lane about 1858 in Madison Co., AR. He enlisted in the Civil War in Company K, AR 1st Calvary on 24 May 1864 and was discharged on 23 Aug 1865.

Mary and Gamblin had the following children:
-John D Wilson Allred
-Louisa Jane Allred
-Sarah Ellen Allred
-Martha Emeline Allred
-Tillman Monroe Allred
-Jeremiah Allred

Gamblin married second to Minnie Adams on 9 Aug 1891 in Butterfield, Barry, Missouri. they had:
-Stella Mae Allred born July 1892, about 7 months after Gamblin's death.

Jemima Elizabeth "Minnie," then remarried to Gustavus A Mills on Nov 9, 1898 in Butterfield, Barry, Missouri.
