PIONEER RESIDENT BURIED SATURDAY AFTERNOON
An early settler of West Carroll and a member of one of the parish's
leading families, Mrs. Kate Alley, 84, succumbed Friday at Forest Hill,
in Rapides Parish. Funeral services were conducted and interment made
at the New Forest Cemetery Saturday afternoon, with many friends of the
deceased present to pay final respects to her memory. The Rev. Jack H.
Midyett, pastor of the Pioneer charge of the Methodist Church officiated
Mrs. Alley had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Willis L. Ross and
Mr. Ross, at Pioneer. At the time of her death she was visiting a
grand-daughter, Mrs. Walter Cambell and Mr. Campbell.
A former resident of "Old" Floyd, she was at one time postmistress there.
