Martin Andrew "Marty" Amosson, the son of David and Sharon Johnson Amosson, was born on May 1, 1961 at Webster City, Iowa. Later he moved to El Dorado, Kansas, where he graduated from high school. He had lived at El Dorado for the past 11 years, where he was the manager of C and J Distributing Company and also worked for the Wal-Mart Store. He was currently serving as president of the El Dorado Junior Chamber of Commerce. He attended the Nazarene Church.
He died at his home in El Dorado on Sunday, Feb. 19, 1984 at the age of 22 years, nine months and 18 days.
He is survived by a daughter, Angela Mary Amosson of El Dorado, Kans.; his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. David Amosson of Stamford, Conn.; his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Griggs, Jr. of El Dorado; five half-brothers: Tony Amosson, Timothy Gorman, Donald Gorman, Daniel Gorman and John Gorman; two half sisters: Tamara and Teresa Amosson; his grandmother, Mrs. Vaughna Amosson of Eagle Grove; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger N. Johnson of Russellville, Ark. and Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Griggs Sr. of El Dorado, Kans. and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harold Amosson.
Funeral services for Martin A. Amosson, 22, were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22 in El Dorado and on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott C. Hall officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
